2011 IPF Sub-Junior and Junior Powerlifting World Championships
Over 249 athletes from 29 countries have taken over the city of Moose Jaw!! These athletes are incredibly fit, with rippling muscles bulging out of their shirts...Yes, the World Power Lifting Championships are here! The Heritage Inn Hotel & Convention Centre in Moose Jaw is proud to be a host hotel for this amazing event. The hotel was fortunate to host a multitude of these exceptional athletes from around the world.
Although the language barrier has made our days quite interesting to say the least, we have become completely adept at our own version of the universal sign for “towel”. But I can’t complain, walking into work while being greeted by some fit guys with no shirts has been the highlight of my week.
I hope the Powerlifters enjoyed their time in our little city as much as we are enjoying having them here. For some, I have heard that this has only been their 3rd or 4th trip to Canada. Having travelled overseas to Europe, I realize what a culture shock it can be! I hope Moose Jaw residents embrace these new friends and help them enjoy their time in our beautiful city.
We had one local competing in this past week’s events, Moose Jaw’s own Rhaea Fowler. She has won multiple Power Lifting awards and now holds the IPF junior world 84+ kg title. Congratulations Rhaea! Read more about her win by clicking here.
The Heritage Inn would like to congratulate all of the athletes and we hope you leave our city with some great memories and wonderful friends.
